Matrix Band Gaps

It can be frustrating when doing an MO, MOD, DO composite and you cannot get the matrix band sealed completely at the gingival box. To proceed with a gap at the gingival box would result in an overhang. Here is a very quick and easy way to solve this problem and save a lot of time.

1. Place band and wedge, if there is a gap (figure 1) then:
2. Take a small cotton or sponge pellet
3. Soak in your adhesive
4. Wedge in on the non-prep side of the band, pushing the band in and closing the gap (figure 2)
   Cure
5. Proceed with your composite
